Nanook and Pooka: Social Activism - Justice for Rosie

Update the story just gets more tragic. It appears from the evidence that Rosie was in her own front yard when the police tasered her and chased her off. And with the prevalence of invisible fencing these days we have to question "how they knew" she wasn't inside an invisible fence. There is no way they could tell for sure she didn't have a collar on, Newfoundlands are long haired dogs a collar would have been hidden by her fur. Then they chased her into a fenced in backyard. The homeowner (Lora Perry) would have gladly secured Rosie in her yard until her owners could have been found. BUT she wasn't given the option. Instead she was ordered into her home with her child and small dog while police shot Rosie FOUR TIMES, while she yelped in agony and fear.

As the witness to this event I will also say that Rosie never moved from her original position, they shot her exactly where she stood peering at me through the bushes. The officers were shooting at a still target in a fully fenced off yard. If I would have known that they were going to gun her down I would have stopped them. They should have told me.I would have let her stay in the yard for as long as needed. I also forgot to mention the officer chuckling as he explained to me that "they had never had one this big before". Not ever considering the danger and sadness they put upon my family. It makes me sick to my stomach to think this happened in our community.

Another horrific story with such a sad ending. And so unnecessary too.

Why, oh why, did they have to do this?

The nature of a man isnt how they treat their equals. But how they treat those who arent. After reading that .. I know a few people who aren't men.. let alone human.

Thank you for spreading the word. It's awful that this happened, and hopefully with enough grassroots effort, we can get legislature in place that protects our beloved pets from this sort of brutality.

The police have to be stopped from routinely killing pets for "convenience". Civil suits may help.
