The gals eat the heads of their mates, which is gross. I have to admit they eat a lot of bugs, though. I'm not surprised they'd take on a hummingbird. Some of these critters are quite large.
oMD Praying Mantis EAT HUMMINGBIRDS????? We did NOT know THAT. One summer we had a MALE Mantis that lived on our picnic Table.... he liked to be touched... he would walk around on mom and dad's supper plates...

I never heard of them eating hummingbirds, but they also eat a TON of the bad bugs in the garden. You're lucky to have one in your yard.
Oh COOL!!! Praying Mantises are so neat!
We think one of you should maybe eat him so he doesn't eat the birdies.
Ciara would likely eat that weird creature - we think it is a praying mantis - very green:)
