Thursday in the Garden

Nothing much blooming now according to the garden guy it's because of all the rain and lack of sunshine. These pictures are from March before it started raining so much and when the Mom was making the Butterfly garden nice and tidy.  It's a JUNGLE now.

The rosemary does really well here and grows all year. It had gotten so tall that Mommy trimmed it up.

We love the blooms on this bush, we can't remember what it is right now.

Our Chinese Witch Hazel.

It's hot pink blooms blend with the Azalea nicely.

The Azalea is doing great. It is planted down here all by itself because Daddy didn't think it was going to live. See the people that owned the house before us planted these huge monstrosities right next to the house. Mommy loves azaleas BUT they never bloomed because in order to see out of the windows Mommy had to keep them trimmed and she was trimming off the blooms. Daddy cut them way back and eventually moved them. Most of them are lining the drive, but this one is down at the Butterfly Garden because that was as far as Mom could drag it. And guess what it is the biggest Azalea of them all with the most blooms. Mommy thinks the people didn't know that there are different types of azaleas. There are dwarf azaleas for planting next to houses, they don't get very big.

Nice view of the Butterfly Garden from the Hummingbird Cottage.

Boy does the Hummingbird Cottage look different now, this was when it was nicely weeded and the plants were just coming up.

We had some lovely strawberries.

We are looking forward to next year when the plants are better established.

We just planted them this year and the new strawberries are much bigger than the old ones. The old ones have small white flowers and produce small tart strawberries. The new ones have large pink flowers and produce large juicy sweet strawberries. ~ATCAD

That sure is a huge azalea. Our garden is a mess this year due to all the rain we've had too.

The Hubby remembers when they grew strawberries in the yard, when he was a boy. Now the trees are too big, and there is lots of shade, but I'd like to try to grow some anyhow! (We live in the house that The Hubby and family grew up in!)

Boy, that's one heck of a strawberry and I'll bet, sweet. The Azalea Trail in Houston is really lovely each year.

That azalea is a beautiful color. And the strawberry looks so good, ours were done by the first week of July.

TBT loved seeing the strawberry. We think that unknown bloom looks like some sort of fruit shrub.
