Friendship knows no boundaries

Today is not of my species day. We are having a party for all our friends (all species welcome). Our guest of honor and not of my species special friends are

Asta, she was one of the first doggies we meet when we started blogging. We have had many wonderful adventures with her and her words of encouragement have brightened our days when we are feeling down. She is bringing Myrna with her as a special guest. Myrna is a wheelie and we are just getting to know her and learn about wheelies.

Charlie, holds a special place in our heart. We have shared many wonderful adventures with her and her friendship makes our life brighter. We always feel safe when she is around.

And last but certainly not least Buddy, Merci and Samaritan who blog at Jan's Funny Farm. They have helped us stay informed about important animal issues and are our role models for when we get a canine brother or sister. Their feline siblings; Cameron, Cotton, Crystal, Cyndi, Percy & Rusty are up at the house with their NOMSSF River helping Mommy set up the buffet. Be sure to say hi to them when you go to get something to eat. And make sure Mommy is actually working, she was so overcome with River's cuteness she kept stopping to play (bad Mommy).

Since we understand doggies like to swim we decided to have a pond party. Asta made this lovely picture of us enjoying the delights of the pond with our not of my species guest .........we branched out Mrs. Goose & Mr. Gander are at our party with their goslings and many of our butterfly friends accepted our invitation. Gossip has it that Mrs. Goose is planning to visit Central Park so she and Asta can visit again, they had such a good time together at the party.

But for those who don't care to take a dip there are lots of other things we can do together, we can play chase and take naps in the shade and of course eat ...........

Cosmopolitans are available under the oak tree along with ice water. When you are ready for lunch head to the house.

Since we live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast we are going with a sea food theme. Help yourself to all the goodies, Mommy has them set up buffet style in the dining room. We have

Seafood Spaghetti,

Fillet with Lump Crabmeat,

Lobster Imperial, and

Ice-cream for dessert . Be sure to get some of everything.

Rainwater is the best tasting water. I love to drink out of the solar fountain after it rains.

Sunday with Scylla

These flowers are growing in our vegetable garden. This is our Mississippi Pink Peas, we had some for supper and they are very tasty.

This is a watermellon. Isn't the yellow flower cute.

This is okra. It has a pretty yellow flower too. It is a type of hibiscus.

The eggplant has a pretty purple flower.

We are sorry if we haven't been by to visit you. We are very busy picking and shelling peas. We will be by to visit as soon as we can. Meow, Scylla

Sad News ~ Lost and unwanted: Euthanasia rate rises to 70 percent at Humane Society

Over half the animals at HSSM were brought in by their owners, officials said. The reality of the situation isn't left ambiguous to those persons.

"We try to make it painfully clear that chances are better than not that your animal is going to be put to death," Staton said. "These people know that. They are making a conscious decision to do this."

I just don't understand how anyone could take their pet to a kill shelter.

Isn't this a pretty color blue? It is blue sage.

This is oregano, you can use it to cook with. It is an herb.

Mr. Dragonfly has been a frequent visitor at our house. We have lots of them this year. We haven't had as many butterfly visitors this year.

This is the Texas Star Hibiscus. The hummingbirds like to visit it.

Do any of you kitties know what plant this is with the pretty light blue bloom? Can you guess?

• A - oregano
• B- catmint
• C - blue salvia

It is catmint, who knew it had pretty blue flowers if you didn't eat it or crush it to death. That is why butterflies like it.

Do you see the bee visiting this hibiscus.

This is our Lantana. It isn't doing very good this year, Mommy thinks that is why we don't have as many butterflies this year as we did last year. The poor Lantana had already started coming up when we had a late frost that put the hurty on it.

Here is a close up of our flowering maple. We think it is a very cheerful yellow.
