Book one in the Circe Trilogy. The goddess Morrigan sends soccer Hoyt Mac Cionaoith to lead the ring and fight the queen of the vampires. She tells him five others will complete the ring; the witch, the warrior, the scholar, the one of many shapes, and the one you've lost. Since it's a Nora Roberts novel of course there is romance along with the magic and danger.
I can't wait to read the next book in the trilogy.
