A former Ocean Springs school teacher received a six-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct with two of his students. Doug Alan Lundy, 35, who taught history at Ocean Springs High School, was sentenced to six years in prison, which he must serve "day-for-day," after pleading guilty to three counts of touching a child for lustful purposes and eight counts of sexual battery. Lundy was a history teacher at Ocean Springs High School when he had an affair with a 17-year-old student starting in 2004.
Don't public school teachers have to pass some sort of back ground check? Aren't there regulations in place to prevent teachers from sexual misconduct with their students? Why isn't someone protecting these public school students Mr. Bounds?
