Perhaps the most chilling part of the book for me so far was this.
"Attendance in now compulsory for every young witch and wizard" he replied. "That was announced yesterday. It's a change, because it was never obligatory before. Of course, nearly every witch and wizard in Britain has been educated at Hogwarts, but their parents had the right to teach them at home or send them abroad if they preferred. This way Voldemort will have the whole Wizarding population under his eye from a young age. And it's also another way of weeding out Muggle-borns, because students must be given Blood Status - meaning that they have proven to the Ministry that they are of Wizard descent - before they are allowed to attend."
I am on chapter 20 now.
Snape is now headmaster of Hogwarts.
Ron, Hermione and Harry retrieved the locket from Dolores Umbridge at the Ministry of Magic. Since they are unable to destroy the Horcrux they take turns wearing it, even though it has a horrid effect on them. Eventually Ron and Harry fight and Ron leaves (unable to return after he cools off because of the enchantments they have used to protect themselves).
Harry and Hermione visit Godric's Hollow where Harry is attacked by Nagini, Hermione destroys Harry's wand beyond repair getting them away.
Whose patronus is a silver doe? ( I have my suspicions, I believe it may be Snape. If he is truly good and wants to help Harry he has to know that Harry doesn't trust him and would refuse help from him, in fact Harry would probably try to kill him. So any help he offers would have to be done secretly.). Whoever it is they leave Godric's sword in a pool for him. Harry dives in after the sword but the locket tries to kill him. Ron arrives in time to rescue Harry and destroy the Horcrux.
Harry is shocked that Grindelwald and Dumbledore were friends at one point. During their visit to Godric's Hollow Hermione noticed Grindelwald's mark on a grave, It has also been added to the book Dumbledore left her, and it's in a letter Dumbledore wrote Grindelwald. Reunited the friends go to visit Xenophilius Lovegood to find out the meaning of the mark Grindelwald used.......... Gotta go read now so I can find out what happens next.
