Maximum finds out who her parents are. Maximum and the girls split up from Fang and the guys for awhile. And while Fang can't get to Germany in time to save Max he uses his blog to rally the kids to rescue her and the other girls imprisoned in the evil Itex castle.

My kids had mentioned these books , but I haven't gotten them yet. Are they appropriate for my wiley teens?
They are written for Teens.
Basic story line evil scientist want to reduce the worlds population. They create the 'bird' kids and other mutants by manipulating the DNA of babies except in one instance they turned a toddler into an Eraser (part human, part wolf with wings). The bird flock escape and try to stop them. Their leader is a teenage girl named Maximum Ride. There is a tad bit of romance between her and Fang, but it's strictly PG. Mostly it's evil scientist and their inventions trying to kill the flock and the flock outwitting them. The Gasman and Iggy (who is blind) like explosions and playing practical jokes.
Hope this helps. In my opinion they are approbiate for teens, Sean (17) thinks the books are OK, I imagine they appeal more to girls as they are written from Max's POV.
These books were amazing and I can't wait for the rest of the 12 books to come out. I suggest that any fantasy [if only it wasn't a fantasy] lover to read these books!!
