Is consumer math important?

COD ask Is consumer math important? I tend to think it may be the most useful math a student can learn. After all, we all have bills to pay, the majority of us have loans at some point in our lives, and everyone has to pay those infernal income taxes. So knowing how to balance a checkbook, calculate interest on loans and fill out income tax forms is useful info for everyone.
