OLD FASHIONED paper sacks are much better for playing in, then those plastic things Mommy gets at Wal-Mart. You can't see Charybdis in this picture cause she is hiding in the sack. But she can't escape from the vicious Scylla who attacks her sack and all.

Oh yes, paper bags are fun to play with! They are pretty much standard issue here in Germany though, since they are more environmentally friendly. :) People either bring their own bags or baskets, or use paper bags. If you want plastic, you have to pay for them, to offset the price of deposing of them, since they aren't environmentally friendly!
You are right, paper is better than plastic! Much cracklier, too.
Just to tell you re ivory, I am happy too that elephants are not killed anymore. But these items I inherited but I never used them. Ivory and fur or anything else from an animal is not for me !!
When I think that people are even making hats with cat fur I get sick !
When Mommy remembers she takes the plastic bags back to Wal-Mart so they can be reused. But they are no fun to play in. It is hard to find anywhere that uses paper bags on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Dragonheart & Merlin, we think it is wonderful that Germany cares so much about the environment. We would love to visit Germany one day.

I got some reusable bags from my local Pricechopper, and they are favorites, especially if I leave the price receipt in there!
