Pet Food Sickens Teen

Brandon Jacklin, 13, was diagnosed with two rare strains of salmonella that made him sick after breaking up the pork tenders with his hands. His symptoms included a high fever, vomiting and severe diarrhea.

So many of our furry friends have become sick recently that I can't help but wonder if contaminated food plays a part.

I wonder!!!! Just too scary. Poor Smudge was only two, and Miral, great one day and dangerously ill the next.

Whiskers was fine when I took him to the Vet Monday for his annual shots. In fact the weekend before he was following us around the yard while we did yard work and he and Socks were playing like kittens. When I brought him home I gave him some of the Special Kitty Pouch cat food for a treat. He got sick not long after that by Friday he was dead. The whole sad tale is here.

It just seems that more and more cats and dogs are getting sick and dying and that often the vet doesn't have a clue why.
