Friendship knows no boundaries

Today is not of my species day. We are having a party for all our friends (all species welcome). Our guest of honor and not of my species special friends are

Asta, she was one of the first doggies we meet when we started blogging. We have had many wonderful adventures with her and her words of encouragement have brightened our days when we are feeling down. She is bringing Myrna with her as a special guest. Myrna is a wheelie and we are just getting to know her and learn about wheelies.

Charlie, holds a special place in our heart. We have shared many wonderful adventures with her and her friendship makes our life brighter. We always feel safe when she is around.

And last but certainly not least Buddy, Merci and Samaritan who blog at Jan's Funny Farm. They have helped us stay informed about important animal issues and are our role models for when we get a canine brother or sister. Their feline siblings; Cameron, Cotton, Crystal, Cyndi, Percy & Rusty are up at the house with their NOMSSF River helping Mommy set up the buffet. Be sure to say hi to them when you go to get something to eat. And make sure Mommy is actually working, she was so overcome with River's cuteness she kept stopping to play (bad Mommy).

Top left, clockwise: Myrna, Sassy, Mercy, Momo. Geese Family, Asta,Charly, Samaritan, Scylla, Socks, Charybdis (drinking from fountain), Charlotte (lower left) Buddy.

Since we understand doggies like to swim we decided to have a pond party. Asta made this lovely picture of us enjoying the delights of the pond with our not of my species guest .........we branched out Mrs. Goose & Mr. Gander are at our party with their goslings and many of our butterfly friends accepted our invitation. Gossip has it that Mrs. Goose is planning to visit Central Park so she and Asta can visit again, they had such a good time together at the party.

But for those who don't care to take a dip there are lots of other things we can do together, we can play chase and take naps in the shade and of course eat ...........

Catmint tea, Milkshakes and

Cosmopolitans are available under the oak tree along with ice water. When you are ready for lunch head to the house.

Since we live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast we are going with a sea food theme. Help yourself to all the goodies, Mommy has them set up buffet style in the dining room. We have

Seafood Spaghetti,

Fillet with Lump Crabmeat,

Lobster Imperial, and

Ice-cream for dessert . Be sure to get some of everything.

Please take a Plumeria home with you as a token of our friendship. Thank you so much for coming to celebrate NOMS Day with us. We had a wonderful time and we hope you did too. ~Socks, Scylla & Charybdis

You chose a great title for the NOMS post! What a swell surprise to find a party by the pond. We may have to try the Lump Crabmeat!! Mom loves Cosmos!

Alastriona, The Cats and Dogs said...

We are so glad you could come Gandalf and Grayson, do go get your Mom so she can enjoy the Cosmos with our Mom.

Scylla & Charybdis have started the races. You race from the pond to the TOP of the jungle gym, whoever gets to the top first wins. We need someone to beat Scylla as she always beats me and Charybdis. She is the only one of us brave enough to get on the roof.

Parker, we are so glad you got to come. Have you meet Mrs. Goose & Mr. Gander yet? I'll be happy to introduce you. ~Socks

Daisy, our Mommy grew up on a farm and she had lots of exotic pets, even peacocks, so we think it would be nice to have lots of NOMS friends of all different species too. ~ Charybdis

We are glad you are having a good time Asta. We had to send Mommy to the store for more supplies (Pixie, Mommy got you some bananas), she is back now and we have tons of food so everyone dig in. OK, we are all going to chase Asta now.

Yes, we kitties are wondering about your mom. She has really fallen for River. Do you think there might be a surprise in your future? Perhaps a little ball of barking fluff?

This is such a lovely day for a picnic. And your title is so appropriate for the day. We have decided every day should be NOMS day! But - sigh - every day can't be a holiday.

Yes, a moment of prayer for those who are sick is appropriate.

A bite of lobster sounds good about now. We think we'll hit the buffet.

Yummmm, that filet topped with crabmeat is the perfect thing to share with my NOMS brother Mica. I get the steak, he gets the crabmeat—something for everyone!

Your pals,

Not The Mama and the purries from
Purrchance To Dream, we are so glad you got to come.

JFF, Mommy keeps pestering Daddy to fence in our yard so we can have a woofie brother or sister. She is thinking something small so maybe Charybdis won't be afraid of it. We almost got a doggie visitor the 4th of July. We want to get a rescue, so we will just have to see what is available when we got our yard fenced. Lobster sounds yummy I think we will join you.

Petey & Mica, we are so glad you could come.

Zippy, Sadie, Speedy & Alfred , so glad you could come. How about joining us on a squirrel hunt, we are going to invite them to join the party if we can find them. Mommy got some nuts and fruit for them to eat, when she made the supply run.

It's a lovely party, thank you for sharing -- we heard that's the "thing to do" on NOMS day. Our new NOMS friend is Arthur; hope you don't mind that we brought him to the party; he'll eat anything! Even the leftover scraps.

Alastriona, The Cats and Dogs said...

We are so glad you brought Arthur, he'll come in handy when it is time to clean up.

Mommy has invited everyone to participate in a pea shelling contest. Whoever shells the most peas in the next 30 minutes will be the winner. So far Mommy is the champ at our house with Daddy a close second. Who can beat her????

Jans Funny Farm said...

Pea shelling? You mean we have to shell your dinner to get ours? Well, if we're eating, guess we better get shelling.

Come on JFF. Let's shell our hearts out. Maybe we'll win a shrimp dinner.

Alastriona, The Cats and Dogs said...

JFF, you are very silly.

Wow, Mommy never saw anybody shell peas so fast, she is in awe.

Socks, Scylla & Charybdis

PAR-TAY - woooo hooooo! Happy NOMS Day!

Alastriona, The Cats and Dogs said...

Hi Kimo & Sabi, we are so glad you stopped by.

Our next contest sounds much more fun............it's an ice-cream eating contest.

We are betting on our youngest boy bean. He eats a lot. ~Socks, Scylla & Charybdis

Alastriona, The Cats and Dogs said...

Mrs. OZ and Tintin, we are so glad you made it. Tintin, it is nice to meet you in person. We have tons of food, and lots of spaces to curl up and take naps. And there are tons of things to do, I think we are fixing to play hide and seek.

Irishcoda, glad you could come. This is our first year to participate in NOMS Day.

Hey, it's no wonder I never made it to the pond. That was great food! I really liked the seafood theme. I hope we can do this again next year and even more NOMS join us. Thank you for inviting me. You all are so sweet! My mom says she could never give me up (although she never serves food like you all did) but there are others (somewhat) like me who would be so happy to live with you.

We are glad everyone likes the food, we tried to think of something everyone would like.

Mr. Tigger, we don't believe it you tied youngest boy bean in the ice-cream eating contest.

We are having a great time too. We think this will have to be an annual event. We can't believe how many of our friends came, we appreciate it so much. And we have had so much fun making new friends of all species.

Scylla spoke with the butterfly and she is indeed one of Daisy's pets. She was looking for Daisy when we told her Daisy was here. I am not sure if they ever found each other. In all honesty I seem to have misplaced Scylla & Charybdis, I am sure they are around here somewhere. I heard them mumbling something about handsome young mancats they wanted to meet.

Hi Brownie, you will find sunflower seeds at the side of the house at the bird-feeder. There are plenty under the feeder too. Last year we even had a very pretty sunflower come up.

We are so happy everyone is having a good time.
