Foster Homes Needed for Cats in Lufkin Shelter

O'Malley Alley Cat in Lufkin has helped community pet owners meet the needs of more than 1,000 cats, and now the animal rescue organization is asking for a helping hand themselves.

The organization's thrift store at 310 E. Denman Ave. suffered extensive roof damage during Hurricane Ike, a significant section peeled off and crumpled in a nearby ditch. Storm water soaked the building, damaging much of the interior.

Owner Brooke Cooley is seeking immediate help to find temporary foster homes for the cats that were displaced due to the damage.

Read the rest here. It's bad enough that Ike damaged the shelter but while Cooley was handing out cat food, litter, litter boxes and carrier crates for the storm, two women stole her purse.
