From the New York Times

Contamination with melamine is especially embarrassing. Pet food that included ingredients made in China laced with melamine sickened thousands of pets and killed an unknown number last year in the United States, and the Chinese government promised at the time that it would prevent melamine from entering food products for people.

For people in China, the death of a baby from tainted infant formula recalls a scandal four years in which 13 infants died after drinking substandard formula produced by counterfeiters under the Sanlu brand.

Our beloved Whiskers was one of the casualties of the dishonest Chinese merchants' greed.

That is a terrible sad thing and we are sorry about Whiskers. We did lose our Brendan after that but he was 18 so I don't think it was from food.
I did have some that was recalled though.

The mom doesnt fink the chinese government care bouts beans or furrys - food, toys, lead paint, bad furry food, and the killing of furrys to "clean the streets" for the Beijing Olympics are the reason she finks this.

This is so sad. So many today have more regard for profits than for lives.

These greedy merchants should be made to suffer the same ways they have made our furry friends suffered. Gran tries not to buy food stuff manufactured in China because of all the bad reports of food caming from there.

On a sad note, Perry, my cousin has gone to the Bridge on Thursday. Remember we visited her during our visit to New York with Sassy? She was well until the previous night, when her mom left town for business. She became ill very suddenly the next morning and passed away. Luckily, her dad was with her, so she was not alone. Her mom is naturally very upset. please keep her in your purrayers.

Zuleme, we are sad to hear about the loss of Brendan.

Shadow & Molly, our Mom agrees with your Mom.

Thomas, Phoebe and Trixie, you can say that again. We would hate to live in China. Although Mom thinks she would like to visit. The Great Wall at least.

JFF, it's so sad that some beans think money is more important then pets or people.

MoMo, Isn't Perry the nice cat that Scylla & Charybdis stayed with since they were so young? We are very sorry to hear that she crossed the bridge.
