Thursday Thirteen ~ Books

Books I read July 10th to September 1st

  1. Where Are You Now? by Mary Higgins Clark ~ Who is kidnapping and killing young women. Is it Mac, the young college student who disappeared years ago? It it his college roommate Nick, who now owns a string of night clubs and is romantically involved with Mac's sister? or is it someone else, someone the police don't even suspect?

  2. Lord Foul's Bane by Stephen R. Donaldson ~ Thomas is summoned to the land will he help save it or destroy it.

  3. The Illearth War by Stephen R. Donaldson - Forty years have passed in the land when Thomas' daughter summons him back. He helps her find the Power of Command, but will she use it wisely?

  4. Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut - I found it depressing.

  5. A Wizard in a Feud by Christopher Stasheff - the last in the Rogue Wizard Series.

  6. Next by Michael Crichton - I was disappointed that he choose to negatively stereotype homeshcoolers but other then that it was a chilling medical thriller. Does Frank Burnet's tissue belong to BioGen, can they forcibly take tissue from Mr. Burnet or his descendants whenever they want? What should be done with a transgenic chimp and a transgenic gray parrot?

  7. The Front by Patricia Cornwell ~ Lamont gets involved in shady dealings again. Will Win protect her?

  8. Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts ~ The first in the seven trilogy. Three ten year old boys unwittingly unleash a demon on their home town, as men will they be able to stop it.

  9. The Hollow by Nora Roberts ~ The second in the seven trilogy. I can't wait for book three.

  10. The Bourne Betrayal by Eric Van Lustbader - Islamist terrorist find a way to use Bourne to plant an impostor in the CI. Will Bourne realize what is happening before it's too late.

  11. Gilden-Fire by Stephen R. Donaldson - the missing chapter from the Illearth War. You can see the other books in the series here.

  12. Tribute by Nora Roberts - a lovely romance and murder mystery all in one. I totally disagree with the review. I loved the book, found Ford charming and funny. And I loved the way Cilla's father, step-mother and her half-sister all welcomed her into their lives. I think Gavin's absence from her childhood shows the reality of divorce for kids. They often lose one of their parents especially if there is a geographical distance between where they live.

  13. Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon - The perfect way to spend a rainy day. Acheron is one scrumptious hero and I enjoyed the book immensly.

Mom says to read "Water for Elephants." She says it isn't your mom's usual fare, but it's really good, and out in paperback.

Thanks for reading my blog so faithfully.

Hi Millie,

Mommy loved that book. She liked it so much she went on to read Sara Gruen's other books Riding Lessons and Flying Changes. Has your Mommy read them?

Mom hasn't read any of these. Mom hardly ever reads book reviews, because they're just someone else's opinion.

And she is right. Our Mom hardly ever bothers with reviews, cause just because someone likes/dislikes something doesn't mean you will.

She has some good friends at the library who know her well and recommend books.
