This is a BLUE Heron. He was visiting our pond and Mommy managed to get a picture. He was very shy, he stayed at the far end of the pond and Mommy had to use her zoom lens all the way out to get him.

Aren't they the most gorgeous creatures? We get some at the Swamp once in a while but Mom has never managed a good shot of them.
We think they are very graceful when they fly. Mommy couldn't get a picture of them in flight. That day there was 1 blue heron and 2 white ones at the pond and they would often fly around. The white ones were not as shy and got closer to us. Mommy said she was very lucky to get the pictures she did; especially of the blue one cause she just took a shot of where she thought she saw it land as she couldn't see it. ~S,S & C
We love those big blue herons! Sometimes we get them in our yard, too. But the little white ones are more common here.
I used to see those beautiful herons when I lived in Florida. Up here in NY I don't see them at all. That was a great shot, good zoom, because they can be quite skittish.
