Pet food recall: Nearly two years later, and the death toll still climbs

So many of our friends have been going to the bridge lately and we always think of our beloved Whiskers this time of year. Whiskers died in March 2007, due to kidney failure. He ate the Special Kitty cat food that was recalled, so we believe that he was poisoned by melamine. It was with great sadness that we learned the pet food recall is still claiming victims. This is so sad. And since you have experienced the pain of losing Whiskers to tainted pet food, you know the heartache each pet owner is going through. This should never have happened!

UGH. We were hoping that people would have learned their lesson and realized how much our beloved pets mean to us and that food should be safe for everyone. You know that there is enough crap in our own food but at least we have the choice on what to eat. We send our sympathy to you for the loss of your Whiskers. It must hurt so much to know that this tragedy is still happening. Our website (allthingsaboutus dot com) will be updated with the new information as well.

There is also a lot of guilt. After all I picked the catfood and gave it to him to eat. He trusted me to provide him with safe food.

Years ago when he was really sick and had a respiratory infection the vet warned me he probably wouldn't eat as he couldn't smell the food. But he would eat out of my hand because he trusted me. I put poisoned food in his bowl, I failed him. I know it's not logical as I had every reason to believe the cat food was safe.
