Romantic Weekend ~ Day 1 (Friday)

Well I got up at 2AM ( I was so excited I couldn't sleep) and got ready. We had to leave the house at 4AM to get to the airport in time for my 6AM flight. Youngest son dropped me off at the airport and I was on the way to sunny San Diego. Hubby picked me up at the airport and we headed to the hotel, which overlooks Old Town. I loved staying here the atmosphere is just awesome.
There are beautifully landscaped patios located all over the hotel. The flowers are breath taking.

Being a history buff I was fascinated by the 1840 Gold Rush Water Wheel.

As hubby had a bad cold and I was suffering from jet lag we didn't do anything noteworthy the rest of the day other then grab lunch at Fred's Mexican Cafe which was a very short walk from the hotel. We ate out on the patio and I enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere. I got the Surf & Turf Burrito and it was delicious. It was also huge, this was the one meal I didn't finish. They also serve chips and salsa and I have to say I found their salsa bland, the salsa at the hotel was much better.

And this is what we will be driving around in. It's a Saturn Sky and I have to admit it was a fun ride. It made me feel young and foolish.

Sassy, you are right it is very sunny and beautiful out there. The weather was great the whole time I was there.

The cats as well as the boy beans were left at home. I do think they would have enjoyed the sunshine. Scylla is very tired of staying inside, but refuses to go out in the COLD weather we are having here. Although Scylla would have probably jumped out the window trying to get a bird at the hotel and meet an unfortunate end. We had a tree right outside our window that a bird was perched in most mornings and the windows didn't have screens (so it is probably best the cats got left behind).
