Lauren's Zoo is a very special place as they rescue special needs animals. One of the dogs they rescued Chopstix has been returned to the rescue and they need financial help to care for her.
From Lauren's Zoo
Through the generosity of strangers, we were able to get Chopstix' many orthopedic issues addressed, and after a year in our care, we placed her in what should have been her forever home. Chopper has been living 'the good life' for the first time in her life, but now her existence is yet again in jeopardy and she needs to ask for assistance. Because of the nature of Chopper's original injuries, she received a lot of orthopedic x-rays but never any chest x-rays. Why? Because at the time there was nothing wrong with her breathing, and we were already exposing her very tiny body to a lot of repeat radiation. Now, we have discovered that Chopstix suffered a diaphragmatic hernia from her original abuse. The vet is totally shocked that the hole in her diaphragm has not caused her more issues than it has before now. This is a life-threatening issue, and Chopper needs yet another surgery asap. The estimate is $2600, and there is only one vet in town who has the specialized equipment that Chopstix requires in order to be anesthetized for such a delicate procedure. Please, we are begging yet again for your generosity. Chopstix has overcome so much in her past. It would be a real shame to lose her now when we know that she can be fixed.
