The Rev. Jesse Jackson is going to bat for disgraced NFL quarterback Michael Vick, and he wants to enlighten us with a historical lesson in the process.
In a column written last week by Bill Rhoden of The New York Times, Jackson actually compared Vick’s place in pro football limbo to that of Jackie Robinson, one of the greatest Americans in the 20th century, breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball.
It’s a sad, outrageous and misguided attempt to make a racial issue out of what should be a referendum on human decency, and it’s an insult of the highest order to Robinson’s legacy as a man of rare courage in the origins of the civil rights movement.
Boo Hiss, we will boycott any team that hires Michael Vick.
I know a lot of people think he has served his time and should be given a second chance, but since so many kids hold football players up as heroes we thinks that allowing Michael Vick to play football sends the WRONG MESSAGE to them.
Rev Jackson this is not about the color of Michael Vick's skin this is about Michael Vick's actions, which he is responsible for. Dog Fighting is not a sport it is a heinous crime.

Just another attempt by Jesse Jackson to be in the limelight...I guess Sharpton outdid him at the MJ funeral so he has to find another outlet.

I agree! This has nothing to do with race. I will also boycott any team who hires Vick.
We agree! Michael Jackson is not a hero and should not be an idol to anyone, least of all to kids.
And it wouldn't matter if his skin was mottled pink and purple, this is not about the color of his skin.
Unfortunately, cruelty is a very deeply ingrained character flaw. This guy deserves no second chance. None of it has anything to do with race.
I agree. If he has a right to play then I hope teams have the good sense not to sign him.
We hopes that the FANS would boycott any team that did sign him. ~S,S, C & F
We will be boo hissing with you.
Jesse Jackson never fails to astonish me. Every time he seems to have been as foolish as possible, he finds a new way...
