Confucius Cat says
The shocking and inhumane conditions of such places are well documented and include constant breeding of dogs trapped in tiny cages who are covered in matted, filthy hair. They often have rotted teeth, eye ulcers and are chronically underfed. These poor animals are never allowed outside of their cages and sometimes lose feet and legs because of cramped conditions and lack of veterinary care. Dog freeze in the winter and die of heat stroke in the summer. Dogs who can no longer have puppies are brutally killed. And the puppies produced are often unhealthy and genetically defective.None of us are purebred, but we are all wonderful, unique and special. Mommy loves us just the way we are. Scylla & Charybdis are rescues, Fenris came from the Bay St. Louis/Waveland Animal Shelter and Socks came from Grandma & Grandpa's. So please consider adopting a mutt if you are looking for a pet. If you do decide on a purebred please buy from a reputable breeder and not a puppy mill or better yet look into getting a dog from a breed specific rescue.
