Purrs 4 Peace Week 31 Announcement: Fur is for Animals not for Fashion

We are joining Confucius Cat in Purrs 4 Peace Week 31 Announcement: Fur is for Animals not for Fashion  although this is another cause we can not support 100%. So we are just purring that animals will be treated humanely.

The reason we can't support this cause 100% is because of BEAVERS.  There are beavers in our pond. See what they did to our Cypress tree? Although the beans could live with that. This is the real problem.........

They cause our pond to FLOOD. This water shouldn't be here.

We called the Mississippi Department of Fish & Wildlife and had them come out to give advice. We discovered that it is ILLEGAL in Mississippi to live trap a beaver and relocate it because they are so destructive.  So the only solution is to kill it. We also discovered it is very expensive to have someone come trap beavers and kill them because there is no market for beaver fur.

We really would like to share our pond with the beavers and other wildlife, but the beavers are not good neighbors. In our area they cause roads to flood so the county supervisors have to use our tax money to trap beavers that are causing roads to floods.  Our Daddy has to unclog the pipe in our pond frequently and he is getting very tired of doing that, especially now with it being so cold.

We 100% support refusing to buy products from Asia, with fur or fur trim, since there is no way to know where the fur came from or if the animals were treated humanly. But we guesses their must be a place for humanly trapping beavers and using their fur.
