Several rescue organizations, such as Bullies in Need (BIN), a non-profit dog rescue in Ottawa, Ontario, are doing their best to find homes for dogs before they are euthanized because of Ontario's "pit bull" ban.
Of course, many of the dogs on death row are not "pit bulls" at all, but rather dogs who've been seized by uneducated animal control officers who have the power to label any dog a banned dog, regardless of its actual breed—like the seven puppies slated to be euthanized that were actually Hound-Whippet mixes. Or Brampton's Rambo and Brittany, Boxer mixes who were seized without warrants and whose fate will be determined by the courts.
No dog should be killed just because it is a certain breed or looks like a banned breed to an ignorant animal control officer.
