Sadly the evidence of pet overpopulation is everywhere in Mississippi. 109,000 homeless dogs and cats enter shelters each year and 73,000 of them are euthanized according to the Humane Society of the US.
While many pet owners would like to have their pets spayed and neutered many Mississippians can't afford too. There are two programs to help low income families spay and neuter their pets in Mississippi.

If you are thinking about getting a dog or cat please consider adopting one from a shelter or rescue, and if you have pets please have them spayed/neutered.

Just last week, my Human went with her friend to adopt a kitty from our EssPeeCeeAy here in San Francisco. She 'dopted me from a feral litter that was brought into her vet's office. So yes! We are both big believers in adopting kittehs in need!
