Scylla Sunday

Happy 4th of July
~AFSS

Now back to the regularly scheduled Scylla Sunday.

The boys are BOTH off today so the beans are gonna try to do something fun as a family. I thinks they should take us cats and Fenris along, we are part of the family aren't we? But I don't think they will.

(Alasandra: Scylla, you don't like to ride in the car)

I never said I wanted to ride in the car Mom, I said I wanted to go with you. (Sigh) Beans can be really dense sometimes.

Oh well I have an idea. I'll just show my friends around the butterfly garden and then we can have a picnic under the oak tree down by the pond.

I like to sit by the Gardenia. It is nice and shady here.

Marigolds. We planted them in with our vegetables they were suppose to keep pest away. (Sigh) They didn't!!!! Our squash got ate by some sort of bug (not a cut worm) and the same buggy is attacking the Angel and Devil Trumpets. Mommy thinks it is some sort of aphid. She has been spraying but it doesn't seem to help any.

Our strawberries. The Mockingbird leaves them alone now, it prefers the blueberries. We has plenty of those so we are happy to share.

The teacup.

OK, time for the picnic. We has fresh nip, and hotdogs, hambughers, ribs, corn on the cob, potato salad, watermelon and homemade ice-cream. I hopes you enjoy!

Happy Fourth of July! The garden is really lovely. I wonder if you could get some ladybugs to eat the aphids. I once read about some plant nurseries selling ladybugs. The picnic looks great. I'll have a hamburger and Herman would like some ice cream with nip sprinkled on top.

We hope you all have a lovely family day together and enjoy that picnic. We have heard that about marigolds too but guess it doesn't work. Our Angel trumpet must have some sort of bug too as the leaves have little holes in them. Two big buds are getting ready to bloom soon.

Happy Fourth of July!

Awwww Thank you Scylla for showing me and Charlie around your butterfly garden!! We are sorry the marigolds didn't keep the bugs away - but still, they are so pretty! :-)

We hope the bug goes away soon! :-)

Happy fourth of July to you and your mum and Fenris and Socks and Artemisia and all the other beans!

Take care
x

We agree that Beins is dense sometimes. Why does "do something as a family" mean "ride in car"?

Marigolds have somethin in their roots that kills nematode worms in the soil. But it hasta be the right kind of marigold (African, we think).
