Scylla Sunday #Heartworms #Seresto #Heartgard

I has some important stuffs to meow about today. First meow I want to remind everyone that cats can get Heartworms so it is just as important to give us a Heartworm Preventive as it is to give one to your doggies.

For years I used Revolution and we were very pleased with it. It protects against heartworms, fleas, ear mites, roundworms and hookworms in cats. Socks will still be using it. The deal was I has super thick fur so it is hard for Mommy to get down to my skin, plus once she starts to put it on I acts like it burns and get away from her. When Daddy is home to help and one person can hold me and one can apply the treatment it works fine, but when Mommy has to do it alone it is very hard for her to hold me and apply it, so she is afraid that it doesn't all get on me like it should.

So now I has a stylish Seresto® collar  it protects against fleas and ticks for eight months. I am keeping it on good and it seems to be working well so far. I now takes HEARTGARD® (ivermectin) Chewables for Cats, Mommy is thrilled I likes the taste so they are very easy for her to give to me, she just puts it on the floor and I gobble it up. And since I am obese I gets two, Mommy is hoping I will lose enough weight that I will only have to takes one.

I wants to remind all my friends to remember to take their preventive medications and if you has any concerns about a product the best purrson to ask is your veterinarian. ~Scylla, reporting for ATCAD

That is so sweet of you Dezi and Lexi but unfortunately not true. Before I started on the Metabolic Diet they measured me to see how much I should weigh and lets just say I ways double what I should be for my frame. ~Scylla

A reminder: There is NO treatment for heartworms in cats.

If your cats go outside they really really need to take heartworm medication!

I take monthly heartworm preventative, but my cats don't because they are indoor-only cats.

We lost a kitty to that nasty heartworm...(Simba) when he was only seven. He literally dropped off the earth...so sad.

Now all of us take meds for that, Pipo hates them..the chewables, and we cannot use topicals because then his fur falls off, literally, on the application site. So meowmy breaks the chewable into bits and hand feeds them. Minko has to be carefully watched because he would steal the crumbs if he had a chance...he loves those chewables and comes running when he hears them being pooped out of the wrapper, MOL!

Dog-guy gets the whole nine yards of stuff fur fleas, ticks and heartworm.

Sheesh, those bugs are nasty!

Glad that you found things that work for you...and keep working on the portly issue...Pipo should do that also...

When my aunties mama arrived in Canada, she had to be tested for heartworm. The doctor had never tested for it before with a cat but Great Auntie Alicia was comin' from Venezuela and was coughin' a bit. Luckily, she tested negative.

I know mom has become aware of heart worm in kitties in the past several years. Mom cannot get me to eat the heart worm meds and eventually after ruining so many and me not eating them, she gave up and had to thrown a few away that were left.

We just got our monthly flea treatment today. Our mom staggers our heartworm treatment for two weeks later. We know how important both are.
