Mancat Monday

Mom couldn't believe my new friend was practically at the front door. We used to never see squirrels in our front yard, but this year we seem to have a abundance of them. There is even a squirrel that shares the backyard with Fenris & Tuiren.

Mom was thrilled she finally found some native Milkweed. This is White Swamp Weed, we hopes to add more native varieties of milkweed to our garden next year.

When Mommy first gets the plants she usually dumps them on the front porch until she has time to plant them. Some go in pots and some go in the ground.

The Milkweed got carted down to the Hummingbird Cottage.

We are loving seeing our Trumpet Vine blooming. Mommy said the poster that said it was invasive is 100% correct but it is a native plant here. Still she has to keep removing the babies from the flower bed are it would take over the entire bed. It is also blooming earlier in the year than it should, we don't know why. The Candy Corn Cuphea and our Pineapple Sage are also blooming earlier than normal.

I like relaxing in the Hummingbird Cottage. This is my favorite hangout.

I thinks Mom did a good job planting the White Swamp Weed. The white blooms look nice next to the purple Mexican Sage. ~Socks, reporting for ATCAD

To me, squirrels in the yard means somebody is not doing his or her job!

I wanted to tell you that mommy loves seeing what you have there in wild plants as well as domestic ones. Especially the wild flowers as she loves photographing them. And you kitties and woofies are excellent stewards of them all! Your mommy is proud of you.

Your mommy stays really busy with the flowers. We love your yard...it has so many pretty plants in it. Of course, you two kitties are excellent snooprvisors of the plantings while Fenris and Tuiren keep the yard safe :)

The human says your pawrents better be ready--that little squirrel will be coming right up to them for a handout!

We seem to have a lot of squirrels this year. We hardly ever saw one before. Maybe due to all the rain? Mom says she might try some milkweed next year - it is very pretty.

We do not see too many squirrels in our yard anymore..before dog-guy came in our den there were plenty of them...
A neighbor once used to feed the squirrels, until once she opened the back door and one jumped on her head, Oh MY!!

We were the posters about the trumpet vine being invasive...that being said, it is one of the best flowers to attract hummingbirds!

This year we are wetter than usual and we have oodles of 'volunteer' trumpet creepers as we call them.(Campsis Radicans)

We planted it for the Hummingbirds, but Mommy said if she had realized how enthusiastically it would send out shoots she may have rethought planting it. It actually didn't do very well until this year.

Cute kitty and squirrel. Love the flowers too. Great series. Have a happy day!

We think they like the extra warmth and wetness they have been getting. Ours isn't in bloom yet. One man in our village trains them into a tree-like shape, they look kind of neato that way!
Have you evfur seen the pods of seeds that they make?? So they are smart plants to send our underground runners/shoots, and seeds as well. Not sure if any critter or bird likes the seeds.

We actually grew ours from seeds. They are very popular down here and several people have them growing on fences, I got a few seed pods when I was out walking the dogs. And I have one I am training to grow like a tree. Very slow going there and not sure if it's going to work.

The 'tree' ones up here are very old, they were there in a smaller version since Meowmy has been here...almost 28 years, MOL!

We have no idea how the man did it...He must have lots of patience!
