Not sure what kind of spider this is, but the spider made a really neat web.
We think this may be a Juvenile Blue Heron. Unlike most people with ponds we love having the Herons visit our pond and are happy to share any fish that might be in the pond with them. They are sorta clumsy looking birds when they take off, but they are very graceful flying. It's possible this might be a Mississippi Sandhill Crane but Mommy doesn't think so. The Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge isn't too far from us though.

My human was dying to know what kind of spider this was so she googled it and - it is a WRITING SPIDER! Also known as an argiope spider. Apparently they are beneficial creatures (as are the majority of spiders).
That is so cool Summer, maybe it will write a blog post for us one day.
That is quite the web that spider made!
How cool to see a heron in your yard.
Mum has only seen them near the ocean.

What a cool web! That spider looks very similar to the Banana Spiders we have here.
Lady wants a pond so she can have a heron, they are her favourite. Sometimes she sees them at the lake.
That spider web is insane! He is an artist!

We've never seen a web like that!
That's a cool spider and we love your new bird friend.
What a pretty heron...the petcretary is furry scared of even the teeniest spider...but it sure made a fantastic web! It wrote all kinds of things to make a platform to base its writings upon, and itself as well! MOL!
