Socks September 2000 - March 11, 2017

I am going to miss the Hummingbird Cottage and my family.

My mouth started bleeding. Mommy hoped it was just another tooth breaking off and they could stop the bleeding and I could spend more time with them, but it wasn't. The tumor had ruptured, my jaw was disintegrating. There was no way to stop the bleeding.

So Mommy brought me home until Daddy could get home from work. We hung out in the Hummingbird Cottage watching the bees and the geese and smelling the flowers. I got to see Mommy's new seat cushions.

Then Mommy and Daddy took me to Dr. Lisa so she could help me go away to a place where I wouldn't hurt anymore and where I could eat what I wanted and play and hunt again. A place where Whiskers, Squall -n- Baby, and Charybdis are waiting for me. Along with so very many of my blogging buddies who went to the Bridge this year. Dr. Lisa sent me home in this nice bag with the flower.

Daddy dug a special spot for me down at the Hummingbird Cottage.

And they planted a Banana Shrub on my grave.  It smells like bananas.

It's a type of magnolia.

Mommy made this special picture for me. ~Socks, saying farewell

The Mom here I knew our time together was drawing to a close but I still can't believe he is gone. He was active and enjoying his life until the very end. There were some post already written for this week and they will publish as they are as I don't have the heart to edit them.

Everyone thank you so much for purring, sending power of the paw and reiki to my sweet boy. We appreciate everyone's love and support.

MISS PEACH ~(^.^)~ said...

Precious friends of long days past....our cat shaped hearts are sad for you and all at the Hummingbird Cottage now that Socks has gone to the heavens. Miss Peach will for sure await him there with a tea party. I find this poem a comfort and wanted to lay it at your doorstep...with love from the cozy cottage and mom Karla....
I too, would make a will
if I could write.
To some poor, wistful, lonely
stray I leave my happy home.
My dish, my cosy bed
my cushioned chair, my toy.
The well-loved lap
The gently stroking hand
The loving voice
The place I made in someone's heart.
The love, that at the last,
Could help me to a peaceful, painless end
Held in loving arms
If I should die
Oh, do not say:
'No more a pet I'll have
To grieve me by its loss'
Seek out a lonely, unloved cat
And give my place to him.
This is my legacy
The love I leave behind
Tis all I have to give

Margaret Trowton
