MOL! Both our washer and dryer are in the garage so we never get to see them - and they are both side loading. My human uses the dishwasher as a rack for the dishes she washed by hand. So we are kind of appliance-challenged here.
We are appliance challenged here - not that we don't have them, the humans just don't use them.
Well, mama's OTHER kitty long ago got INTO the dryer and mama heard it thumping around and seconds later she ran to open the door and Sushi that OTHER kitty's name, was fluff-dried and looked totally bewildered. Her hair was sticking straight up but she was dry, that's for sure. No harm done but mama almost fainted.
We like the dishwasher because we get to pre-clean the dishes before they go in. The other appliances we like are the stove top and oven because our pawrents cook yummy stuff on/in them and when they are done we get to lick the pans (again kind of the pre-cleaning step from before).
We like to crowd around the cooktop - all good smells come from there. Too bad it gets so hot or we might do some taste testing:)

I have never tried watching the lights on the dishwasher, but when we first moved here, I barked at the ice maker and the end of cycle alarm on the clothes dryer. Sometimes, I still do.

The only thing that freaks us out is the ice maker in the refrigerator.
