Goose Neck

Awhile back we got in a discussion about geese and their necks.

Their feet are pretty interesting too. They don't always waddle.

They can twist their neck into all sorts of shapes and when they are chasing something they can stretch it out really far.

We like it best when they are paddling around in the pond. Do you know one year the gander attacked Mom's car???  That was in the long ago times when Whiskers was still alive. Apparently the Geese had come up to the house to visit Whiskers the goslings were walking all over him like he wasn't even there and Mom came home from the grocery store and the Gander flew up into the windshield, Mom had to park and wait for the Geese to depart before she could pull into the garage and unload the groceries. ~Yang, reporting for ATCAD

Mom couldn't get out of the car at the park once when she went to take pictures A gander had come straight at her from maybe 30 yards or so away and forced her back into her car.

Those geese sure are interesting. You are so lucky that you get to have them stay at your pond every year.

Mom and I are afraid of geese. They usually bark at me, and once at a picnic, one of them chased Mom for her food. Your mom was very brave to wait calmly in the car, Yikes.

There is a turkey that attacks my hubby's truck bumper every spring. I think he sees himself and thinks he has a competitor. :)

Geese are best enjoyed at a distance, it seems! They are so territorial and protective of their furmilies!
Once one stole the cookie our son was holding, and he was in a stroller, and this dude just came up very fast and grabbed it! At least he didn't take the fingers along with the cookie:)
