Remembering Tuiren

When I started this post Saturday morning Tuiren was still alive, now their is a Tuiren size hole in my heart. It started Wednesday. She appeared to be having vertigo (she has had it before) late Wednesday morning. I gave her, her medication and by the time I got out of the shower she was drinking and eating and going out in the yard to potty. She seemed to be feeling better which was a relief as my vet closes at lunch time on Wednesday. The same thing happened Thursday, she seemed to have vertigo when she first got up needed help drinking as she couldn't quiet manage to find the water bowl, she kept putting her head past it so you just had to hold your hand up in front of it so she could find the water and not overshoot it, but she was drinking good, not eating so well but still taking treats and Friday followed much the same pattern. I should have taken her to the vet Friday, but she seemed OK that morning and I was busy all day putting the plants in the greenhouse, by the time I noticed that she was more lethargic than before it was late evening. Saturday morning I started trying to find a vet that was open, my sweet cousin (who is a vet) offered to come by with some nausea medication for her.  And I felt really reassured she wasn't dehydrate, her gums and tongue looked pink,  her pulse was OK the only thing was her breathing was labored. But shortly after the medication was administered her breathing became less labored and she seemed to relax. I took this as a good sign, but shortly after Dr D left she drifted off in her sleep.

This post was supposed to be about her Gotcha Day, not about her death. I am so sorry to be writing this and not celebrating her becoming part of our pack.  Annie Tuiren (Too ren) started showing up at our house September 21st, 2012. It wasn't until November that I started thinking that maybe she was supposed to be part of our family, and she officially became part of our family December 10th, 2012.  But we have always celebrated her Gotcha Day in November as that is when she let us know that we were supposed to be her family. She will be greatly missed by all of us. She came to us as an adult so we don't know how old she was, the vet thought she was around 1 when she came to live with us, so she would have been close to 11. Goodbye sweet girl we are so lucky you choose to spend 10 years with us, we are going to miss seeing you do the snoopy dance. ~Alasandra

I am shocked, saddened and in disbelief ... we loved Tuiren, have always loved little beagles and are so very sorry to learn of her loss. May she rest well, forever, may you and your family find peace in memories of her beauty and your good times together. Our paws are together for you as you move through this difficult time. We are beyond sad to hear the news that Tuiren has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Please don't blame yourself as you were doing what you thought was right for her. She was so lucky to have found you when she did because her previous owner didn't even know that their neglect caused her to have heartworm disease. You gave her ten wonderful years in a loving home where she knew the comforts of a warm bed was always available (if one of the cats didn't get there first). Walter and Millie have their paws crossed for all your family as you learn to live a life without your (and Walter's) beloved Tuiren.

I'm so sorry. We remember Tuiren from the beginning since we were really blogging a lot back then. Not only are we sad at her leaving for the Bridge, but that it was on her Gotcha time when she came into your lives and was loved for the past ten years.
Sending hugs to you and the other pets sure to be missing her as well. ~ Tom, Bridget, Penny & mom Julie xxx

I didn't know Tuiren, but I could tell she was a loved member of her family. And please take comfort in the fact that she left her body behind in her home; the last thing she smelled, saw, heard and felt, was home. The scents and sights and sounds of her beloved world carried her off to the next, where someday you will see her again. Godspeed, Tuiren.
