Hate crime charges in NY cross-burning

Two white men accused of burning a cross on a black family's front lawn were indicted on hate-crime charges Friday (in WHITE PLAINS, N.Y).

It will be interesting to see if the New York 'cross burning' generates the same national outrage as the alleged 'nooses' in Jenna, LA.

A judge decided the fight that thrust a teenager into the center of a civil rights controversy violated his probation for a previous conviction and ordered the boy back to jail, the teen's attorney said.

I wonder if there will be another protest march?

Even in New York

NEW YORK --A black professor discovered a hangman's noose on her office door at Teachers College at Columbia University on Tuesday, and police said they were investigating the case as a possible hate crime.

"You would think, Columbia being such a diverse campus and New York being such a diverse city, it shouldn't happen here," she said.

Apparently New York has it's own racial problems.

Probation for a hate crime?

Four of nine black teenagers convicted in the racially charged beating of three white women on Halloween were sentenced to probation Friday.

The victims were in an affluent area of Long Beach that draws crowds with fancy Halloween displays when a crowd of black youths yelled racial insults and one shouted ,"I hate whites" according to prosecutors.

Probation???? If the teens had been white and the victims black they would have gotten jail time if not the blacks would have been rioting in the streets and the NAACP would have been screaming bloody murder. Giving the black teenagers probation sends the wrong message, hate crimes should not be tolerated. I am outraged that these teens didn't get jail time.
