Thanks to one of our friends who is very knowledgeable about birds we now know this is an American Bittern.

I don't know the name of the bird, but I hope that you Mom got rid of those mean ants.
Well she got rid of the ones on her foot, but the mean things are building ant beds in the flower beds. It's very annoying. They even invaded the greenhouse.
I wish I knew what kind of bird that was, but I don't know. Do you have fire ants where you live? They are mean!

They are awful. They have invaded the butterfly garden and the green house. Mommy is very annoyed with them.
