Remember Me Thursday

We are all Rescues here so this day is very important to us. Fenris is the only one who actually came from a shelter the rest of us were all lucky enough to escape the shelter experience, except for Tuiren her first person got her from a shelter.

Approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.

Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats).  We are NOT sure WHY more CATS ARE KILLED in shelters than dogs. And we should be honest cats and dogs are being MURDERED simply because no human wants them. This is so unfair.

Today we are lighting candles for the cats, dogs and other animals that are KILLED in shelters. We promise that we will never forget you.

What can you do to stop the slaughter of cats and dogs.

Adopt don't shop. Refuse to buy from a breeder while cats and dogs languish in shelters and rescues. With a little bit of effort on your part you can find exactly what you are looking for at a shelter or rescue. We have found Petfinder.com and RescueMe.org to be helpful when looking for a pet.

Today we are going to share Squall-n-Baby's story with you. Daddy was the scout leader for our boys. One evening after a scout meeting Daddy heard a kitten meowing in the parking lot. The poor thing was covered in his own waste and very vocal about how unhappy he was. Daddy brought him to Mommy and she gave him a bath, and he went  to live with Whiskers and Socks. No gradual introductions here, but Whiskers and Socks were always very friendly cats, Whiskers took the youngster under his paw right away and started grooming him. Socks waited until the youngster was a bit older and felt more like playing before introducing himself. As Socks would have been the first to tell you he wasn't a nursemaid.

Anyway it turned out that Squall-n-Baby had a very delicate tummy he had to eat special foods But he finally got well and turned into a sleek panther. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers and the threesome was a very happy and cuddly bunch until he meet his demise way too soon. ~ATCAD

Squall-n-Baby hit the jackpot! (A family who rescued him from a parking lot and two friendly cat brothers? What more could a cat ask for?) Thank you so much for being an advocate for pet adoption!

Adopt...don’t shop. Those words are so important. We purr for those in shelters waiting to find their furever homes.

Your dad seems to have kitty radar to hear those little kitties in need. This story starts much like little Chimera's.
