Zany #AtoZChallenge Caturday Art

Zany means amusingly unconventional and idiosyncratic, we are not sure who is zanier Yin or Chimera. They both amuse us a great deal and they both have their quirks.

And if those two aren't silly enough, Mommy did silly things to their picture the top picture she used a filter.

And in this picture she treated us to colored pencil.

Yin & Yang, the Yoga Kittens #AtoZChallenge

Yin (the female black Yoga Kitten) has been very nurturing to Chimera.

You often see Yin and Chimera together.

Yin has taught Chimera some great ninja moves so she can hold her own with Yang.

Yang (the mostly white male Yoga Kitten) is very gentle with his little sister.

At first he thought she was just a new toy for him to bat around.

But once he caught on to the fact she was a kitten he became a very protective big brother.

Yin often gets where she doesn't belong. Here she is with a twofer. She is on the table where she doesn't belong and on Daddy's jeans.

She wants everyone to know he has a black cat.

Yang is being a good boy and sitting in the chair.

When Baby Olivia and Katie come to visit he likes to check them out.

Yin and Chimera prefer to hide out in the garage.

Yin loves to hunt crawdads.

Yang tries to keep up with everybody.

He tried to play ball with Fenris but he was too slow. Fenris always got to the ball first.

Running in the leaves was a lot of fun, they make a rustling noise when you do, that he enjoyed.

But while he was busy playing in the leaves Yin beat him to the top of the tree.

And while Yin is well hidden under the Jungle Gym, Yang stands out like a sore thumb.

Once they went back inside Yang took a nap, while Yin resumed her Ninja lessons with Chimera.

Xenia

Xenia (also known as the Xenia effect) in plants is the effect of pollen on seeds and fruit of the fertilized plant.^[1] The effect is separate to the contribution of the pollen towards the next generation.

The term was coined in 1881 by the botanist Wilhelm Olbers Focke to refer to effects on maternal tissues, including the seed coat and pericarp, but at that time endosperm was also thought to be a maternal tissue, and the term became closely associated with endosperm effects.^[1] The term metaxenia was later coined and is still sometimes used to describe the effects on purely maternal tissues.<sup>[1]

Thankfully we don't have to understand xenia to grow beautiful flowers.</sup>
 

Mommy bought some flowers for our pots. We have some Bandana Red Lantana that we added to our pots as well as some petunias.

And we just love the angelonia.

Angel Trumpet

This is a succulent.

Kinda neat how the light did in this picture.

Our Desert Rose, it is around back now where it belongs.

Mommy got some Borage at the Herb and Garden Fest.

It's leaves really do taste like cucumber.

Mommy tasted them for us.

It sure is pretty too.

This is a wildflower growing down at the pond. It's not a blueberry but it is in the blueberry family.

We can't think of it's name right now, we will send Mommy to look it up in our wildflower book.

Mommy has also been busy painting containers for our plants.

She is doing OK, but she makes a huge mess with the paint. ~ATCAD

Winsome Wednesday, Wicked & Wild #AtoZChallenge

Mommy says I act like a wild thing when I play. And Yin says I am wicked when I bites her.

But even when I am wicked and wild, I am always winsome.

Winsome - generally pleasing and engaging often because of a childlike charm and innocence <a winsome smile>

Chimera, the winsome kitty at ATCAD 

Update, those who know us on Facebook know Chimera got spayed the 19th of April and had her hernia repaired. Yesterday she had to go back to the vet and have some new stitches put in as she managed to get two of the stitches from the hernia repair out. She is also now on antibiotics to keep it getting infected. ~ATCAD

Vicious #AtoZChallenge

Geese can be very vicious.

Once a gander attacked Mommy's car when she was coming home from the grocery store. He flew right into the windshield and wouldn't let Mommy get out of the car. She had to sit in the car until the goose convinced him to go back to the pond with her.

We likes this pair of geese they don't bother us and we leave them alone. They has 2 or 3 goslings this year. They usually has more, but we had a lot of flooding this Spring, we thinks their nest on the island in our pond got flooded.

Unfortunately another pair of geese showed up after the goslings hatched. The two couples viciously fight all the time, especially the two ganders. Eventually our gander drives the other couple off with Fenris' help  ~ATCAD

PeeS: Fenris' help consist of chasing the geese as they fly over the back yard.

Ungulate #AtoZChallenge

Ungulate is a fancy way of saying goats have hooves. Grandpa has a nice herd of ungulata.

Ungulate - belonging or pertaining to the Ungulata, a former order of all hoofed mammals, now divided into the odd-toed perissodactyls and even-toed artiodactyls.

 

Whatever you call them the kids are cute.

They are pretty friendly, once they get used to Mommy they try to eat her.

Grandpa was herding them.

They do not like going where they are told.

Mommy says it's kinda like herding cats, just easier.

They didn't know what to think of Mommy's camera.

This Mother and kid are super cute.

Goats like to play. They use this culvert as a tunnel.

The kids think it's time for lunch.

Their Mom is super sweet and takes good care of them.

So far Mommy has resisted the urge to bring an ungulate home, thank cat.

This kid was having the best time running and jumping.

Now we thinks it is time for our lunch, catch you later. ~ATCAD
